CBD for animals slowly picks up steam
The cannabis industry is blooming at a steady rate, and it’s taking everyone along for a ride, even pets.
A quick scour of the internet confirms this, with more companies focused on cannabidiol (CBD) coming out with products intended for pets. And it’s all for a good reason.
For many years, people commonly associated marijuana with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is its most active ingredient and is responsible for feelings of euphoria. However, many studies are showing that its other substance, CBD, is the one that needs attention.
According to World Health Group, CBD has a wide array of health benefits and can act as a potential relief for pain, anxiety, epilepsy, high blood pressure, Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease, among others. What’s more, studies were conducted on both humans and animals, with both showing positive results. As a result, CBD companies are now coming out with products not just for people but also for their furry friends.
Among these companies is Complete Body Daily’s oil dog treats, which pet owners say has helped with their pets’ back pain while also acting as a relaxant. And that’s not all, as two days ago, CBD Dog Health announced the launch of three new CBD products made especially for canines at the recent SuperZoo, which is the largest pet show in the U.S. According to the company, the recent changes in legislation have caused a tremendous increase in CBD and its benefits, so it only made sense that it launched its new products at a pet show.
In addition, pet owners in Nashville, Tennessee have also reportedly started using CBD oils as a way to keep their pets calm during loud festivities, especially with fireworks. More companies in the area are also starting to take notice.
But the wildfire-like spreading of this industry isn’t just limited to CBD products but also to charitable work.
Recently, PotNetwork Holdings, Inc. (OTCMKTS:POTN), through its Diamond CBD subsidiary, has contributed to South Florida’s leading animal rescue foundation. The company reportedly donated $3,000 to the Saving Sage Animal Rescue Foundation (SSARF) in an effort to help rehabilitate and replace the foundation’s anesthesia machines, which is important in treating animal patients.
A non-profit animal rescue organization, its volunteers work diligently to give appropriate treatment to neglected animals in South Florida, and Diamond CBD’s donation, through its MediPets division, will surely go a long way in helping these abandoned and stray animals.
Released just this March, MediPets is a CBD-for-pets product line by Diamond CBD, POTN’s distributor and manufacturer of CBD products. Developed to give pets the same premium benefits that people receive from CBD, the line also offers retailers a chance to take part in the growing industry.
A recent study shows that American pet owners are estimated to spend over $72 billion annually, with $15.11 million of this money spent on over-the-counter pet medications, a section that’s now been entered by Diamond CBD’s MediPets. Through this, the brand is aiming to be a leading CBD product for pets, introduced in a new age where its benefits can be freely accessed by anyone.
Furthermore, Diamond CBD Inc. was also present at the 2018 Global Pet Expo in Orlando Florida, where it exhibited its MediPets line in the event that is recognized as “the most important pet industry trade show for brands seeking to unveil new products.”
All in all, the recent changes in legislation did wonders in sparking renewed interest in this industry, and it seems that the numerous developments are a sufficient foundation for the CBD industry’s attention to pets to finally gain steady footing and encourage more companies within the sector to create more products for these companions.
